The Penfield Foundation
Restoration and
Renovation Projects

Ironville Church
(formerly 2nd Congregational Church)
Built in 1842 by the Crown Point Iron
Company.
The Penfield Homestead Museum is currently
embarking on a 2 phase project involving the church. The
first project is the painting of the interior of the church. There are some
minor repairs that need to be made to the plaster. Painting is the major objective.
To accomplish this, we need to raise money to purchase the paint. We have several
volunteers that are willing to donate their time to do the work. One fund raiser
is the Adopt-a-Pew program. For $100 we will affix a small engraved plate to
a pew with your name or in memory of a loved one. For donations $25 or larger,
we will have your name engraved on a small plate to be part of a larger plaque
that will be placed in the front hall of the church on completion of the project.

Sample of work that needs to be done
in Church
The second project involves the church
basement. The basement was once a gathering spot for Ironville, and until the
1920's hosted an annual dinner honoring Civil War Veterans. We want to restore
the basement to make it once again a center of activity for the Museum. Plans
include making a kitchen in one room and a restroom in another. This is the
most costly part of the project as there is no running water in the church.

restroom areas.
Once the work is completed, this area would allow us
to have lectures, movie nights, craft nights and host many other events. Your
donation, no matter how large or how small, will make these projects a reality.
Donations may be sent to: The Penfield Homestead Museum, 703 Creek Road, Crown
Point NY 12928. If you wish to Adopt-a-Pew, please include wording for engraving.
